In 2006, the Chicago Rush won Arena Bowl XX in their first appearance in the AFL's championship. This came in Mike Ditka's third season as part owner. (He is also responsible for the team's mascot, Grabowski, who wears jersey number 89.)

In 1986, the Chicago Bears won Super Bowl XX in their first appearance in the NFL's championship. This came in Mike Ditka's fourth season as head coach.
